prof. Mark Hardie, MBE

Senior Consultant

Mark grew up in a Services family moving around the UK and Germany. He studied at Heriot Watt University, Kings College London and Ashridge Hult. Mark has 20 years experience of Leadership, training, adaptive planning and decision making from operational service in the Royal Marines. He finished his career as an expert in complex personnel issues, leading in mental health and operational stress management, casualty support, management of fatalities and the response to the Marine A case.

This experience led to  personal research into human performance through adversity and challenge focussed on ethical leadership, resilience and recovery. He is qualified in Trauma Risk Management (TRiM), a Mindfulness based Mind Fitness trainer, and a certified Executive Coach and Mentor. More recently he was invited to become a Visiting Professor in Military and Public Service Ethics at Bath Spa University.

Mark was part of a small team which established the Naval Service Ethics Programme in 2018.

Mark is married to Sally, an Interior Architectural Designer and lives on the South Coast with their two sons and ageing Labrador. He keeps physically fit through early morning rowing and weekly boxing. He keeps mentally fit through Stoic philosophy, active meditation, sparring (poorly) and reading.
